Paris Deco Off 2017

Paris Deco Off offers a unique opportunity to witness the latest collections from D&F's suppliers, presented by their creators. This gives us a first-hand feel for their very individual, passionate and thoughtful nurturing of their precious collections.

While most of you were tearing around NZ trying to find summer (except for those in the Bay of Island who seemed to strike gold), Anna from D&F and Rod were soaking up the visual extravaganza that is Paris Deco Off.  Over 100 of Europe's leading lights in the fabric and wallcovering sphere came together during late January in a small network of alleys within Saint Germain on the left bank and Rue du Mail, a stone's throw from the Louvre on the right bank.

Under the umbrella of brightly coloured lanterns embellished with exhibitors latest creations, permanent showrooms were neighboured by pop-ups as local retailers made way for visiting editeurs.

Amongst the bevy of patisseries, chocolatiers, and sub-zero temperatures (our coolest morning was -6) there was an intriguing contrast of gentle colours and natural hues to the bold colour and pattern.

The contrasts in styles is complimented by the cultural contrasts of the Italians, Spaniards, French and Scandinavians.  Gaston Y Daniella's rich new collection is bold and African inspired while Decortex Firenze and Agena have stuck with more classic European tones and textures.  Sandberg have re-invented their famed stripes and developed a Villa inspired collection ideal for New Zealand's modern classic interiors.  Wonderful Fortuny have once again delved into their archives to add "Crossroads" to their beautiful artisan collection of printed cottons.

These new collections will work well in New Zealand interiors and we look forward to introducing them to you over the next few months.
